Why I am not liking UD Primer Potion in Sin

Even though Urban Decay's Primer Potion is considered a Holy Grail makeup product for many beauty addicts and novices alike, it just doesn't float my boat. I decided to show you why:

The above picture was taken 7 hours after makeup application. I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin, and topped that with a few neutral colored eyeshadows. As you can see, there is creasing, there is splotchiness from where makeup has faded, and all of the eyeshadow is uneven. I don't have oily lids, and I have tried using both thin and thick layers of this product, and each time I get the same results.

I am officially retiring this product from what my hubby calls "the transformer box" aka my train case. I will keep the primer in the original color because I don't have a problem with that, but my results with Sin make me not want to use either of them.

So what are my favorite primers? I love the MAC paint pots and as of late I am really liking the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer. What is your favorite eye primer?

  1. actually sin works eh best when paired with shimmery eyeshadows. It actually looks really pretty paired with Stila Kitten e/s, but to each, her own right?

  2. The original UDPP works fine for me but I prefer the MAC paint pots.

  3. It could be just that version that causes the creasing (or, you could be using too much; it's easy to do with UDPP). I can't use UDPP in Eden on my lids because it's too dark for pale me; it also makes my lids really dry and look like bits of filo. I do, however, use it as an undereye concealer (really dark genetic undereye circles went POOF!). I use the original and don't have any problems!

  4. The transformer Box...haha...

I like Original and Sin both, but the EDEN version was Hopeless for me...

  5. I have both UDPP and MAC paint pot and I alternate between them. But, I find MAC paint pot tad bit drying

  6. I was loyal to Urban Decay for a long time but I recently discovered the Too Faced Primer and I think I like it better. I find it's easier to spread on my lids and it never leaves a residue and the squeeze tube is much more convenient than the UDPP.

  9. Any primer works best if it is not used right in the crease and topped with a neutral matte eye shadow before any shimmery eye shadow is applied over the top. Shimmery eye shadows do not have the same adherence as matte ones. The matte shadow underneath gives the shimmery ones more to grip. It sounds strange not to use a primer in the crease but it will help. Try it again and you might be surprised. It is indeed good to see more Asian bloggers! http://oxfordjasmine.blogspot.com
