MAC Obsessed

So this is nothing but my own ramblings since I am trying to go to sleep and have no one else to tell this to.

I was twittering today with fantastic from Suka & Spice and she mentioned how lame it is that sometimes we get so obsessed with a product that we keep calling a store to find out if they have it in stock, or keep checking online to see when it is on sale. Sadly, yes, I am infected with this disease. I was/am obsessed with trying to get my hands on the new MAC volcanic ash exfoliator and the volcanic thermal mask. I missed out on it last year because my local stores never had a chance to sell it. The employees at the stores bought all the jars so I did not even have a chance. I heard that it is amazing and have been wanting to try it out. I held out knowing MAC would eventually re-release it since I did not want to pay ridiculous ebay prices. Anyhoo, I have been so excited to get it that Tuesday when it was available on line, I was itching and jumping....just ready to pounce on the "checkout" button in my MAC online shopping cart. I thought maybe I would hold out and get it in stores, but then fear of what happened last year set in and I caved. Ordering online meant I would be able to secure a tube of each product without the anxiety that I would miss out again. And alas, I submit my order midday on Tuesday.

Now, when I was browsing on the MAC website, I noticed that the thermal mask is sold out. You can't imagine how ecstatic I am that I made the right decision to order before it was sold out. Now I know I am crazy and obsessed, but now that I have shared it with all of you, I feel super lame and dorky. Sigh...

Have you ever been this obsessed with something?

  1. I'm obsessed with makeup, LOL! I haven´t ever called a store to see if they had something in stock, but I usually visit stores once a week to say hi, check out new things, get swatches and stuff like that.
Now, I *really* want the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator, I missed out on it last year, and after all the raving, don't want to miss out again.

  2. Hahahaha! Yes, we did have that conversation, and regardless of any rational comments that were made to stop me from doing so, I went ahead and purchased. Both the exfoliator and the masque--AND a couple of other things that I could have done with out. For instance a mineralized shadow (I even like those? I didn't think I did), and the greasepaint stick. Actually, the greasepaint was something I asked them to leave behind--until the MA told me that it was the last one. Last one? Oh, well then I want it. What's wrong with us?!?!?

  3. @Marce Hehe, it's nice to meet another makeup obsessed reader! Let me know if you get your hands on the exfoliator and what you think of it!

@fantastic I know EXACTLY how you feel. It like, if a product is so great they are sold out and I am lucky enough to get the last one, I should take it! Means the product must be amazing, or at least people are wishing it is. I get so caught up in the excitement of it all, I go home, and then think, what did I just do? In a way, online shopping is good because I don't have the MAs pressuring me and I have time to decide if I really want it or not. But then, with online shopping, I miss the instant gratification.

  4. Um, yea I am obssessed. When Hello Kitty came out, I made an order online right when I saw it start showing up. The categories weren't even made yet, nor the HK promo pics.

Hope you love the VAE & VATM. I did an online order too, 1 of each. Then I got it express shipped & got it before the stores released it =) On release day, I went out and got 2 of each. It's so back-up worthy!
