So I know this post is called Current Faves, and while you may think I would tell you about products I am currently using and loving, I am going to tell you about 2 products I love so much that I actually finished them!
The first is the Stila Lip Glaze in Blackberry:
I actually love the Stila Lip Glaze formula so I like just about all shades. However, this one shade complemented both dramatic eyes and simple neutral eyes, so it was perfect to carry around in my purse. The Lip Glazes are non-sticky, last several hours without fading, and are available in shades that are opaque or sheer, glossy or shimmery, so I can find just about anything I need within this one line of glosses. I also like the brush applicator because it feels like I am painting my lips and makes applications fun. To add to the fun, each of the Lip Glazes have a flavor that complements the shade. Of course, Blackberry tasted a bit like berry punch. It isn't so strong that it feels like I am applying a 10 year old's play makeup, but it adds a touch of youthfulness to a high-performing product.
Another product I absolutely cannot live without both in my personal stash and in my professional kit is...
...the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish (MSF) Natural powder:
This powder can be used as a light foundation using a buffer brush, can be used as a setting powder with a normal powder brush, can be used as a highlighter if you use a lighter shade, or a contour if you use a darker shade. It is not shimmery like the regular MSFs, but it is not matte either...it's just perfect. It gives a natural, flawless finish without looking cakey and photographs beautifully. This isn't the first compact I have finished, but I decided to photograph it for you so you know what to expect if you have ever wanted to know what the compact looks like if you finish a natural MSF or a regular MSF. There is a ceramic plate on which the product gets baked, and when the product is finished, you will see the circular parttern of the ceramic plate.
Ever go through phases where you seem to love certain products and you find that they run out at the same time? I am going through one of those phases right now and I seem to be finishing a lot of products. Thank goodness for MAC's Back to MAC program. If only other brands offered the same type of deal. Sometimes I get so excited to finish a MAC product because I know it will contribute to my next free product. I miss that excitement when I finish non-MAC products. Am I the only one who feels that way?
I love my MSF powder in light also - it gives a great finish :) I still haven't got around to trying any Stila products (see what I did there?!) but I'd love to try their 'kitten' eyeshadow.

For Back to MAC, do the containers have to be empty for them to count? If I don't like a lipstick or foundation any more but it's still 2/3-1/2 of the way full, can I still take it back??
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I look forward to finishing my MAC products cause I know I have a new lip product to look forward to. I too love the MSF natural! I use it on a daily basis.
ReplyDelete@KatO Kitten is a great shade! I used it in a look here: http://kajalcouture.blogspot.com/2010/03/easy-neutral-eye-using-stilas-most.html
ReplyDelete@Nosh Yes!! The product doesn't have to be empty! MAC will still recycle the packaging. Go ahead and get yourself a free lip product (or eyeshadow if you go to the MAC freestanding store) with all those containers! =)
@Neena It feels a little like Christmas when I get my free Back to MAC product. =)
